TOEFL

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an English proficiency test used to assess the English language skills of non-native speakers. It is widely recognized by universities, employers, and immigration authorities around the world. Here’s a detailed overview of the TOEFL

Test Format

1. TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test):

  • Sections: The TOEFL iBT is divided into four sections:
    • Reading: Measures your ability to understand academic texts. You read passages and answer questions.
    • Listening: Assesses your ability to understand spoken English in academic and everyday contexts. You listen to conversations and lectures and answer questions.
    • Speaking: Evaluates your ability to communicate effectively in English. You respond to prompts and speak into a microphone.
    • Writing: Measures your ability to write clear and well-organized essays. You complete two tasks: an integrated writing task based on reading and listening, and an independent writing task where you express your own opinion.

2. TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based Test):

Note: The TOEFL PBT is no longer widely offered. The TOEFL iBT has largely replaced it, and it’s available in most locations.
